We all know what it means to travel. Whether it’s a trip to the other side of the world, a weekend getaway to a neighbouring country, or the first time setting off to daycare, proudly wearing a tiny backpack: we go on a little journey every day. Often filled with a lot of enthusiasm and joy, but sometimes also with feelings of unfamiliarity, fear or homesickness.
Battoe is a performance about finding your way home in an ever-changing world. Two artists leave their familiar cocoon behind and set out on a journey together. On a wooden musical raft with all kinds of hidden sounds, they cross borders and travel through a sea of different emotions. Step by step, wave by wave, they discover the complicated world and themselves a little more.
